I’ve managed to get another page completed in a somewhat timely manner, I suppose, given that I’m still splitting my free time between drawing the comic and preparing my upcoming Kickstarter campaign! 

I’ve been trying a time-management method lately where I’ll work on the comic for a couple of days, then work on the Kickstarter for a couple of days. And when I say this, I don’t mean entire days - I still have to work a full-time job, so all comic-related stuff happens in the early hours of the morning. 

I have been feeling a new surge of enthusiasm for the comic work lately, which has been great! I think finishing the trailer for the Kickstarter campaign (which is currently playing at the top of this page) kind of marked a milestone in the campaign prep, where it all seemed to get more “real”, and the possibility of even launching the campaign, let alone having it succeed, suddenly felt more achievable.

I feel like my process of making this page was pretty straightforward, I got to use a lot of thought balloons, which I love, because as I’ve said before, I feel they’ve fallen out of favor in modern comics. I’m waging a one-man campaign to  bring ‘em back!

On the previous page I set up the plot point that Steamroller Man was trying to punch and kick his way out of M.A.R.S.H.M.A.L.L.O.W.’s head. That was useful here, because I could just use similar sound effects around him as I did on the previous page, and the reader knows exactly what’s going on. This meant I could use what’s essentially just a big white shape on the side of panel two for some very efficient storytelling.

The pose in the final panel was fun to draw but it took quite a few tries to get right. I posted this panel on the Steamroller Man Facebook page a few days ago and someone asked me if his hands were on backwards! They do look a bit weird because of the angle, I think, but they’re not backwards - I took a photo of my own hands as reference (unless… MY hands are on backwards?!!!)  

I recorded a timelapse of both my penciling and inking process for this page, which I will hopefully get around to posting to my YouTube channel soon!
