Hi there!
As promised, I’m posting some work-in progress pictures here today. These are from the next page of the Issue Two story, where Steve Rollerman changes into Steamroller Man. First up is the thumbnail layout, which I do in pencil on paper, at about the size of a matchbox. At this stage I have a rough idea for what I want to happen on the page. Thumbnails are a great way to explore possible layouts, and in fact, this one was a composite of a couple of different versions.
Compare that to the next stage of my process, which is a blue line sketch. I switch to drawing digitally after the thumbnail stage, because of the ease of editing and revising. I work with a program called Clip Studio Paint EX, which is just fantastic for drawing and making comics. More process stuff next week!
