I kind of went to town here with this background, wearing my Jack Kirby and John Byrne influences on my sleeve. I love the way both of those artists drew technology, and I tried to combine elements of both of their styles in this page.

I know some people hate to draw backgrounds, and I used to be the same way. Over the years of my career I've had to learn how to draw in perspective, and have learned that the true value of a background is to use it as a device to focus the viewer/reader's attention on what you want them to look at. So, the more I was forced to draw backgrounds for my job, the less intimidated I was by them. Like anything, it all comes down to practice!
