Issue One, Page Thirteen

Time to get this story rolling again! This week, we check back in with Sugar Daddy putting his plan into action! It really felt good to work on the thumbnail layouts for this page and the next few pages, because I was getting back to telling the story. I threw in a few sign gags in the first panel - I guess that's the influence of my day job on The Simpsons coming through. I toyed with the idea of importing a 3D model of the truck in the first panel, but ultimately I decided to just use the perspective ruler tool in Clip Studio Paint, and draw it from scratch. I've been asked a few times whether I've based certain characters in crowds, bystanders, etc, on people I know. The short answer is "no". No character in this strip is based on any real person in any specific way. Apart from the main characters, Steamroller Man, Sugar Daddy, and his Golem, I design the others as I draw each page. I will occasionally think of a hairstyle, or an item of clothing, that I've seen on someone recently, and add that to a crowd member as I draw, but that's about as far as I'm willing to go. I want this comic to have the broadest possible appeal, so I'm not putting in any in-jokes.
