This page was a bit of an experiment.

It's supposed to read as though time has slowed right down, to try and create a bit of suspense. Everything is literally "up in the air". I thought a nine-panel grid would work well for this. As each panel is the same size on the page, it creates an even reading rhythm. Tick, tick, tick. Foregoing dialogue also helps the feeling that time has slowed.

No dialogue meant I could arrange the images in any order I wanted, and I tried a few different arrangements of where each image would be placed in the grid. In the end, I decided that the three panels showing the progression of the licorice whip unraveling and the canister succumbing to gravity worked best as a column that can also be read downwards - as though the canister is falling down the page.

That's the theory, anyway. You can let me know in the comments if you think it worked!

Man, this is bloody gorgeous. Not just the comic art but even the website layout. Kudos!

Wow, thanks so much! I actually had my comic set up in WordPress originally, but switched over to Comic Fury because I couldn't get the layout working how I wanted. It now looks a lot closer to what I had in my head.

I'm glad you like the comic too, of course! Thanks for reading!

Really interesting, i personally thought it looked like they were getting sucked up into a warp beam.

But i really like your slomo explanation.

I think experimenting is good. Too many comics are just the same cookie cutter traced shit.

Cant wait to see steamroller man headbutt some scums

Thanks Panda Cop! My fight scenes will never get as brutal as Kung Fu Grandma's (i.e. no eyes popping out or bones cracking - which I love by the way) but I will do my best to satisfy your craving! Stay tuned!

Your experiment worked! I could feel the slow-mo sensation and the lack of sound/dialogue was the cherry on top!
Good work, Matt!

Uh! OH! xD

(I think the page works very well, something may leave this dimension, but it's not clear yet what. )
